Marc Vetri on living a life of full-tilt, unmitigated passion

When we create our stories each week, one of the most agonizing decisions is what to call people. How do you distill a life—in the case of our storytellers, an otherworldly life—into the three or four words of a title scroll?

Like most, we first fell in love with Marc Vetri through his otherworldly cooking. The world-renowned, James Beard-winning chef and owner for The Vetri Family of Restaurants is a creative genius with few peers in the kitchen.

Over time as we followed his career, we became even more enraptured with his other work: his inspired community work through the Vetri Community Partnership, and his passionate writing for The Huffington Post.

And we wondered how he keeps it all straight and separated and still maintains a continued level of innovation and engagement. What we found in talking with him is his secret: he doesn’t. Marc shared with us his full-tilt approach to life—an embracing of the big bowl where all life’s ingredients of joy and passion come together.
